The Thesaurus provides users with the terms they need for indexing documents to be used in searching for information via descriptors. The Thesaurus is organised in categories, but it does not in any way include specific terms used in the different countries. In the Thesaurus, the user will find the category ‘certification’ but will not come across any of the national terms used to denote the various types of qualifications (e.g. Baccalauréat, Abitur, etc.).
